You have probably all seen the posts that say something along the lines of “how I make $10,000 a month blogging” and doubted it. Well, I am here to tell you making that much money online is not as hard as you think – the first step is understanding Affiliate Links.
Affiliate links are great, because even if your blog is brand new and you don’t have a lot of traffic, you can still use them. It only took me 4 weeks to land my first affiliate sale! It certainly wasn’t much money at all because I had no idea what I was doing yet (it was under $2 lol) I will say it was motivating and proved to me it is possible to make money!
Affiliate marketing is all about trial and error. The important thing to understand (that most bloggers don’t tell you) is that there isn’t one affiliate strategy that’ll get you the big bucks. Different approaches and techniques work for different people. But the best step to take is making sure you know the best affiliate programs out there.
So if you are looking to start making money online, I recommend you give these affiliate programs a shot. You have nothing too loose!

1. SHAREASALE
The most recommended affiliate program for new bloggers is Shareasale. Shareasale a very popular affiliate program out there that has TONS of retailers to choose from. You can use this for individual stores, products or adding banners.
One of the best things about SHAREASALE is that it super easy to get accepted into which is a huge perk as a new blogger. You might not make the most money off of it from the start, it is a great opportunity to learn how to use affiliate programs, place ads in the right spot, etc. It is a learning process!
My favorite way to use ShareASale is by placing banner advertisements throughout my posts or landing page. For example, take a look at this “SMILE” ad placed right below this paragraph….
I easily placed that ad right there and if someone were to click on it and sign up for Smile, id get $50 in my account. Super easy additions to any blog post that could generate an extra $100-$200 /month!
2. Amazon Associates
Amazon is my GO TO affiliate program. It is perfect for users who are just starting out because it is super easy and fast to get accepted into.

PRO’s:
- Fast, easy acceptance.
- You can find EVERYTHING on amazon
- A lot of people use amazon (so you are more likely to see commission)
- Easy to track your affiliates and get links
CON’s
- Commission starts low (around 4% per sale) and increases based on the volume of products you sell.
- The more products you sell, the higher % you get.
- When you sell 1-6 products = 4%
- If you sell 7-30 products = 6%
- Then, if you sell 100 + products = 7.5%
- Etc.
- The more products you sell, the higher % you get.
- You wont get paid until balance reaches $100
- But don’t get discouraged, it DOES happen. Faster than you think!!
NOTE: Yes, Amazon is my favorite affiliate program, however I have been kicked off before. It is important that you FOLLOW THE RULES and don’t just skim over them.
Amazon Affiliate Program Tips:
- DON’T display the exact price on your site
- DON’T put the amazon tracking ID anywhere but your blog or website
- I have heard of people getting in trouble by using amazon affiliate sales via Email, Instagram & Pinterest. Some get away with it but do it at your own risk.
- ALWAYS disclose that you are working with affiliate links and may receive a small commission if a purchase is made through a link.
- Just keep life simple and READ ALL THE TERMS AND RULES

3. SHOPSTYLE CO
ShopstyleCO is a great affiliate program that has TONS of popular stores and key tools to use!
This affiliate program is full of high end retailers and average ones (it is nice having an option so you can feel out what your audience is willing to pay) Another huge perk is that ShopstyleCO is also perfect for Pinterest and making money off your pins! If you are trying to take your site to the next level by implementing tools such as product widigits or shop the look pins, this program great for you!!!

I put WIDGETS all over my blog and posts as another way optimize more income. Here is an example on how I use them in a post (click here). I was writing about the best amazon leggings but also added a few product widgets of other workout clothes they can match it with. This small addition doubled my opportunity for an affiliate sale, while keeping it subtle and honest. Another favorite way of using product widgets is adding them to the side bar of your home screen like this. If you scroll down a bit you will see “Skincare Essentials” on the right side bar!
Another perfect way to use SHOPSTYLE CO Affiliate Program is by creating Shop The Look Pins like these ones! You can tag products in all your pins and redirect the user to buy the, landing you an affiliate sale!
