If you haven’t already added Collagen to your vitamin and supplement routine, fair warning, you are going to want to after reading about the benefits in this post.
Collagen is one of the newest additions to my supplement routine and has turned into one of my favorite things.
I have been asked a few times what collagen I use, what the benefits are, etc. so this post is going to go into ALL of it for you guys.
Product I use: Unflavored Collagen Vital Proteins
VERY IMPORTANT: Do not buy this product from Amazon or any other online distributor! If you plan to purchase this product, I recommend you buy it from the official seller – Vital Proteins. After researching alternate distributors (such as Amazon) I found in the reviews that there have been faulty products sent in place of the original version that can be dangerous to your health.
Before I get started, let me make it clear that I am in no way shape or form a partner to vital proteins nor will I get paid if you purchase. I just love their product I wanted to share it with you guys while making sure everyone is staying safe and healthy! 😊
So, what is “Collagen” and why do we need it?
Collagen is one of the most abundant proteins in your body. Supplementing it provides tons of health benefits that our body needs. A few of the popular ones that have people raving over are:
- Improving skin health
- Helps with your hair
- Grows your nails like crazy!
- Has 18g of Protein
- Improves digestion
Collagen = Skin Health?
If you are into skincare and are familiar with all the collagen infused face masks and serums, this might be a given. Collagen = great for skin.
Collagen is a naturally produced protein that plays a massive role in strengthening your skin. It aids in the skins elasticity, hydration and the overall health and appearance.
While your body naturally produces collagen, it begins to slow down tremendously as you age.
Less collagen = aging skin.
Supplementing collagen gives your body that extra boost to continue the amazing skin benefits.
Okay, so get to the point. What does collagen REALLY do for your skin?
Think of it this way: When you take collagen, you are giving your body that extra boost to do what it is intended to do (maintain youthful, healthy skin).
- Plumps your skin
- Improves and prevents fine lines and wrinkles
- Prevents aging
- Gives you that glowy, dewy look
Supplementing collagen is working at keeping you clean and healthy from the inside (your gut) to the outside (your skin).
So, have I personally noticed a difference?
YES.
When taken consistently, I have noticed a huge difference in the appearance of my skin, nails, hair, energy levels and overall health.
My biggest beauty perks from collagen
Skincare is huge for me. I follow a 7 step skincare routine consistently and always interested in anything that will benefit the health of my skin. So with that being said, it is no surprise that the first collagen perk I noticed was my skin.
- Glowing appearance
- Plump, clear skin
The second major collagen benefit I noticed was my nails. This one is huge for me because I have NEVER had nice nails. They were always paper thin and would constantly break and peel.
- Nails have been growing like crazy
- Stronger, thicker nails
The third collagen benefit is my hair. Since I started taking collagen my hair has really benefited. I have taken so many hair, skin & nails vitamins and nothing has worked as good as this collagen has.
- Hair grew longer
- Thicker hair
- Shinier
- Overall health improved
Additional Benefits
PROTEIN. The collagen I take (vital protein) offers 18g of protein per serving which is a huge benefit.
Protein is the most important thing for your diet and unfortunately majority of Americans aren’t getting enough! This collagen makes it so easy to get an entire serving of protein, without the hassle of cooking.
How do I use it?
While Vital Proteins has a lot of different options and flavors to choose from, I went with the unflavored collagen (see it here).
I love having the unflavored one because I can do so much with it. Typically, I have it in my morning coffee but sometimes I will put it in my detox drinks or smoothies. You can even put it in your water, but I haven’t been a huge fan of that.
I hope this post helped you understand all of the amazing Collagen benefits out there! If you have more questions, leave a comment!
